Joe Richards is the Tennis Director for Tampa Tennis at HCC. Joe has been teaching tennis for over the past 20 years. During that time, he became certified with the United States Professional Tennis Association and has been the head professional at several country clubs. Joe enjoys training and playing with ALL Ages and Abilities. Joe has been playing tennis since he was a very young child up through college tennis at Ohio Northern University (most singles matches won in history). Currently Joe has been playing on USTA teams as a 5.0 USTA rated level player. When Joe is not teaching, devoting his time to the Hillsborough County Tennis Association, directing daily activities, playing or watching tennis as well as spending time with his wife (Lisa), two children (Tristan & Alexis) and one dog (Haley).

Tyson joins the Tampa Tennis at HCC staff as a certified tennis instructor through PTR (professional tennis registry) since 2009. He’s been teaching in the Tampa area for 5 years. As a junior player, Tyson competed in Germany, California, and Missouri. He also played in tournament tennis in Kentucky, Missouri, Illinios and enjoys participating in USTA leagues. Tyson has a strong passion for the sport of tennis and working with junior players. Tyson was part of the coaching staff that lead the Tampa Tennis at HCC 8 and under and 10 and under teams to their respective State Championship teams in 2012.

David Kuhlman

David Kuhlman has played all major sports since the age of 6.  After many years of narrowing down his focus, found himself teaching tennis at the age of 14.  He mentored under a United States Professional Tennis Association Master Professional named Jay Hardman at Brookside Country Club in Canton, Ohio.  After 4 years of high school competition and coaching, David went to college to play at Eastern Michigan University. While there, he coached Ypsilanti High School’s varsity tennis team.

After graduating, he moved to Florida where he has improved his knowledge of the game of tennis in order to pass it on to the next generation.  David has studied under Vic Braden’s teaching philosophies, spent 3 years teaching academy players at Saddlebrook Academy in Wesley Chapel, Florida.  Recently, David comes from Avila Golf & Country Club where he worked with both juniors and adults.  David loves teaching beginners to advanced players.
